About Us
The Humanitarian Umbrella for Relief and Development Organization (HURDO) is a Somalia-based, legally registered local non-governmental organization that is focused on empowering communities and vulnerable populations including women, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees to be self-reliant and escape poverty. HURDO pursues the vision of empowering individuals and communities to break free from poverty and isolation by fostering a brighter future built on capacity enhancement of vulnerable and marginalized populations which is imperative for social and economic independence and resilience. To achieve this vision, HURDO strategically collaborates with communities and stakeholders to achieve socio-economic development and resilience through targeted program implementation like capacity building and community-driven and owned humanitarian interventions. This participatory approach is central to raising robust communities.

HURDO has successfully mobilized communities in Somalia and spearheaded income generation projects primarily focused on uplifting women, breaking the cycle of poverty and marginalization.
Our Impact
Youth Engagement and Empowerment
Somalia is one of the youngest countries in the world, with 75 per cent of its population under 30 years old. While young people represent the majority in Somali society, continuing unrest, conflict, socio-economic and political exclusion have left them with psychological wounds and multiple roadblocks to adulthood.
HURDO has organized a classic workshop for the you engagement and empowerment to equip the potential aspects of youth involvement in the decision making. The southwest ministry youth has provided his remarks in the workshop
HURDO Workshop and Field Attachment
It is because of the severity of the problem that youth has introduced capacity building workshop alongside the health event. The health event working closely with other stakeholders in the country, and through key mentors working in the areas of skills development and youth advancement programs is determined to use the massive opportunity through its network of members who are also the stakeholders in the health sector, to address the challenge of youth and unemployment through interventions.
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)
Hurdo organization provides routine and emergency healthcare to internally displaced people in Baidoa district of Southwest Somalia. Humanitarian conditions in those areas remain dire, with widespread unmet health needs in impoverished, overcrowded IDP settlements.
Site Assessment at Baidoa
HURDO organization has conducted a sit assessment at Baidoa district to find out the IDPs live status. Most internally displaced persons (IDPs) reside in overcrowded shelters in densely populated urban areas, further increasing their exposure to the risks and impact of COVID-19.
